It is a terrifyingly beautiful realization, the kind that arrives at 3 a.m. when the rest of the world is asleep and your mind refuses to join them. We spend our lives frantically parsing through our individual days, demanding to know our personal mandate. Why am I here? To change things? To heal people? To be healed?
We look for signs. We listen to the cliché that "the universe aligns for us," or we desperately claw at the comforting phrase that "everything happens for a reason." But what if we’ve spent our entire lives looking through the wrong end of the telescope?
What if the reason isn't about us at all?
Nothing in the cosmos is a coincidence, but perhaps the mistake we make is assuming we are the central characters in the script. Consider the thought that has been keeping me awake: What if our purpose is entirely microscopic? What if we are merely single, small dominoes in a sequence so massive, so incomprehensibly vast, that the final impact occurs lightyears or generations away from our own existence?
Think about the ripple effect. You sit on a bench and listen to a stranger's secret. You absorb their pain, you offer a moment of warmth, and then, like a neutrino, you move on. To you, it feels like a transient, lonely exchange. But that stranger walks away lighter. They make a different decision tomorrow. They spare someone else a harsh word. That second person goes on to create something beautiful, or saves a life, or alters the course of a family forever.
The domino you tipped fell smoothly, but the final crash happens over a horizon you will never see.
If this is true, then we are constantly overlooking our purpose because we are expecting it to look like a grand, personal destination. We want to see the whole tapestry, but we are only permitted to be a single thread. Every action, good or bad, evil or godly, sends a vibration through the fabric of reality.
We are not the authors of the grand universal design; we are its conductors. We are the accidental catalysts, creating massive waves through tiny, unnoticed movements. It is a humbling, slightly disorienting thought to carry into the dark. We are tiny, we are temporary, but the momentum we carry is eternal.
Good luck sleeping tonight.
That's such a humbling pov and gives a sense of meaning to our existence and outcomes of it ,which goes unnoticed just because it's out of our personal bubble.
